Kitchen Assistant Job Description
The Nums Yums team is looking for a passionate, committed, curious, and ambitious individual to help us in the kitchen. This job can be flexible as there is no set schedule and it is on a as needed basis. Expect to work once every other week, for 8-12 hours; or a couple hours over multiple consecutive days in the busy season. We will likely need help Thursday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturday mornings, some other weekdays, and sometime Sunday morning. You will also have the opportunity to travel and help us with large cake deliveries - usually on select Saturdays and Sundays. Some months will have more demanding work than others but we are willing to work with you to try to give advanced notice on when we will need assistance so we can be respectful to your other schedule and commitments.
This is a great way to grow many skills, and work with a growing small women owned business. You can also seek mentorship if you wish for various business, finance, and baking skills. You may also request free baking classes from the baker. Although this position doesn't do lots of baking specifically, heres what you can expect to do:
- Help with fondant decorations
- Help with packaging
- Help with prep items: cutting fruit, separating ingredients, measuring recipes etc
- Help frost and prep cupcakes
- Help mix buttercream
- Help with chocolate molding and tempering
- Help mix ingredients and pour into pans
- Help film/photograph content
- Do dishes and help with clean up
- Do occasional grocery/store runs (last minute demands are possible, but you are never required to do it if you are not available)
- Do occasional Deliveries
-Product photoshoots
- Assist with wedding cake structure, decoration, and delivery
- Learn Recipes and how to execute them
- Assist with baking
- Other ad hoc duties
Requirements:
- Must be open to learn and passionate
- Must be flexible
- Must be able to drive with a valid drivers license
- Live in Montgomery County or surrounding areas
Pay: $12 / hour with chance of potential bonus, Paid every other Friday via Zelle. Direct Deposit might be available soon.

Location: Gaithersburg, MD 20878 and Rockville, MD 20850
Length of position:
Start Date - August 1st 2021
End Date - February 18th 2022, with the chance of extension.
